Mars is the next most habitable planet in our solar system after earth. It’s neither too hot or too cold. There is enough sunlight to use solar panels. The soil contains water to extract. It has an atmosphere that gives protection from cosmic and the Sun’s radiation. A Mars day is only 39,5 minutes longer than a day on earth. The gravity is 38% that of our earth, which many believe to be sufficient for the human body to adapt to. Going to Mars could prevent us from extinction.

“Once humans are on two different planets the odds of extinction drop to nearly zero” (Andy Weir)

Using photography, the boundaries between fiction and reality are explored. Mars symbolizes the unknown, which is presented as an imaginary landscape. issues related to the future of humanity are beeing investigated, looking for hope on a new planet.
